Greece: Athens

After what can only be described as a fairly intense 10 day tour, with early morning starts, daily tour guides, navigating laundry and lots of car rides we finally had a change of pace. Greece would be completely unplanned, no tours, no agendas, just sightseeing on our own. Next stop Athens!

It's nice having an apartment where we have a common area and can do laundry. The only hiccup was on check out when trying to leave the apartment, nobody (airbnb host included) did not know that the building front door was deadlock. As such we, as per instructions, pulled the door shut with the keys left on the counter, only to find that we couldn't exist the building. There we stood at 5 am in the morning, with our luggage trapped behind the building door, while on the other side the pre-ordered taxi driver stood confused. After countless attempts to contact the airbnb host, we resorted to ringing on the doorbell of all the apartments in the building, the issue being that it was part residential, part commercial. Finally at 5:10, somebody in the next door apartment opened the door, she wasn't happy to be woken at that hour but she was kind enough to left us out of the building. We eventually got to Athens airport with not too much delay. What an end to the trip!
